Non-traditional Learners

Traditional schools are missing opportunities to embrace non-traditional learners. Non-traditional learners do not fit in the square peg, so we must change how we instruct them. We change how we instruct by observing how students process information. Use data to guide the professional on what the child needs. Probably one of the most important components is having conversations with the student for him/her to explain how he/she is processing the material. I have a process I use to help professionals fully understand how each student processes information. Contact me to find out more.

Gifted and talented students are not traditional learners.  Children who learn differently are non-traditional learners.  What are we doing differently in schools?  The answer is we are not doing anything differently.  We need to think outside the box and teach non-traditional learners.  Many programs have helped, such as project-based learning, inquiry learning, real-world learning, and work-based learning. But most of the time those programs are not fully embraced and are used once and day or a week.  We need to do better because now most children are becoming non-traditional learners.
